The cities and towns of Jhonghe, Yonghe, Banciao, Sinjhuang, Sanchong, Taishan, and Lujhou are located between Taipei City and the south bank of the Danshuei River and collectively form one of the densest commercial areas in Taipei County. With a history tracing as far back as the Ming and Ching periods, this area is also home to many important and well-preserved historic sites, making it a great place to rediscover Taiwan's past. Among the other cultural and tourist assets to be found here are colorful folk festivals and local snacks served at the various night markets.
