Taiwan's Northeast Coast is a natural paradise, with scenic mountain and ocean views and a meandering coastline of bays and promontories. The best way to see the region's many popular tourist destinations is to drive along Coastal Hwy (Provincial Hwy 2). Starting from Shueinan Cave, the highway passes through Bitou Cape, with its sea-eroded rock formations. Continuing on, you arrive at the high sheer cliffs of Longdong, the fine sandy beaches of Jinsha Bay, the ocean world at Yanliao Beach Park, the spacious grounds of Longmen Camping Site, and the golden sands of Fulong Beach. You can also take a journey back in time on the Caoling Historic Trail and at the traditional fishing village of Maodi, or visit the famous Magang and Lailai Rock Fishing Area. Further down the road are the Sandiao Cape Lighthouse and the emerald green fields of Taoyuan Valley. With so much to see, you may find it hard to leave!

Northeast Coast One-day Car Tour (Best time to go: Year-round) Take the Badu Interchange on the Sun Yat-sen Fwy→Rueifang→Shueinan Cave (Yin-Yang Sea)→Nanya (rock formations)→Bitou Cape (local snacks, trail walk to lighthouse for scenic view, approx. 90 mins)→Longdongwan Coast Park (water sports)→Longdong South Coast Park (water sports)→Longdong South Coast Park (swimming, nature study, approx. 2 hrs)→Jinsha Bay→Aodi (lunch)→Yanliao→Longmen Camping Site→Fulong Visitors Center (travel info)→Fulong (water sports)→Maodi (fishing village)→Sandiao Cape Lighthouse (scenic views, about 30 mins)→Return by original route to Taipei, or follow the Coastal Hwy to Ilan (approx. 45km) or Ercheng and then turn right and take the Taipei-Ilan Hwy past Pinglin to Sindian or Taipei (Entire trip: about 100km).
